About Us
Becker Farms is committed to producing wholesome, nutritious meats, poultry, and eggs. We currently raise cows, pigs, chickens, hens, turkeys, ducks, lambs, and goats and do so using sound animal husbandry practices. All of our animals are free-range, pastured, and not given any growth hormones or direct-fed antibiotics. To decrease the pathogen-load on our farm, we routinely rotate the animals so that no one species is pastured across the same area or lives in the same pen over the winter in any one year. Kyle is a licensed food animal veterinarian and believes that sick animals should be appropriately treated if they become ill; however, we focus on prevention of disease and it has been a few years since an animal has required treatment on our farm. We welcome any questions about our production practices.
Our lambs, goats, and cattle are grass-fed and grass-finished, while our pastured poultry and pigs are limit-fed a supplemental diet containing GMO-free corn, sunflower, canola (cold pressed), field peas, black beans, and organic sea kelp and minerals. Although we are not certified-organic, we use many organic practices and are proud to announce we are officially soy-free as of this year.
We use three local processors (depending on the animal to be processed) and none of them use harsh chemicals like hydrogen chloride, peroxide or sulfuric acid to process and package our meats. We have thoroughly vetted each processor and found them to process with the same high standards that we have in the raising of our animals.
We currently attend several farmers markets in east-central Indiana including the Minnetrista Farmers Market, Carmel Farmers Market and Original Farmers Market at City Market.
