We raise our animals on certified organic land with certified organic hay we produce. We raise grass fed lamb, beef, pork and poultry in addition to a variety of vegetables, flowers and herbs. Our growing practices are outlined in detail at ...the farm website located at www.thistlebyrefarm.com. We rotationally graze our lamb and beef. The poultry and pork are feed vegetarian protein supplements (soybeans), waste vegetables and fruit and Fertrell minerals along with Redmond salt. We use open bottom chicken tractors to help protect our chickens from the pesky hawks and owls in our area. Our animals are cage-free and allowed to enjoy the freedom to roam... We are a small family farm located in rural northern Carroll Country's rolling countryside.
We have a CSA with meat, veggies in season and other things like herbs, flowers, and Michigan Fruit.we have $100.00 plans along with..20 and 50 week plans..with weekly pick up at the Lafayette Farmer's Market and La Scala's restaurant every other week during the off farmer's market season. It features thistle bucks to help clients tailor make their choices to their families. Thistle bucks are spent monthly and can't be stored month to month. They can be spent on meat and produce, herbs, flowers and our Michigan fruit (we buy from 1 farmer less than 100 miles away and it is straight from his farm..we do not buy at fruit auctions...) We have trees maturing at the new organic farm and that will be available in about a year... currents, gooseberries, strawberries, asparagus and grapes....apples will take a bit longer to come into production.
Pork and Lamb is available by the piece or halves and wholes...hand raised...custom butchered at a USDA facility..we will deliver to two or three close to us. We can offer nonnitrate curing and no MSG products.
